There are 2 reading passages, 1 covering the achievements of the Tang and 1 for the Song Dynasty. Students each read one and then collaborate to complete various activities. How the lesson flows:
1. A do now question
2. Mini-lecture introducing the achievements of the Tang and Song dynasties. There is a short video for your visual learners.
3. In pairs, each student reads a different passage, 1 covers the Tang achievements, the other covers the Song Dynasty.
4. Students must collaborate and discuss their findings to complete the graphic organizer.
5. There is an individual short response question. Then the pairs come back together to compare answers and discuss a final question.
6. The lesson concludes with students identifying which achievements belong to the Tang, the Song or both.
